Wednesdays-KIDS (Grades K – 7th)

Students build skills in fingering, form, and proper bow technique, while learning the fundamentals of music theory including reading music. Students will work individually and collaboratively on exercises and song work building rhythm, timing, concentration, comprehension and coordination.

Students have fun with African hand drumming while exploring basic beats and rhythms of a variety of styles of music including a range of Latin, African, Rock and Jazz. Students will gain understanding in building timing, listening and coordination skills.

We will explore Japanese contemporary drawing styles to create anime characters of our own vision and design. Students will also basic animation techniques. Starting with basic drawing techniques, children will learn about and experience various mixed media and create their own characters.

Students explore the world of Breakdance with particular emphasis on Popping, Locking, and Breaking. They will build skills in balancing and controlling their bodies and learn how to strengthen their own rhythm while learning a variety of sequences, dance choreography, and some Hip Hop history.

The ukulele, also known as uke, is a versatile instrument, with 4-strings, and it is often used and heard in a broad range of musical genres, including jazz, country music, pop, world music, and rock. It is also the instrument that best represents surfing and surfers.

Crochet is a craft technique that involves using a hooked needle to create fabric by interlocking loops of yarn. Students will learn basic techniques to potentially a blanket, scarf, etc. More advanced levels will receive a project to create something of their choice.

Class starts off as an intro to the fundamentals of Piano, keys, notes, finger placement.  Then, students wil  learn the basics of music theory including the music alphabet, scales, and key signatures. Students also practice identifying keys, reading notes and build skills in rhythm and timing while learning to play a variety of songs.

Full 24 Week program for students 4th-7th grade who are either motivated beginners or serious about taking piano to the next level. Class meets twice a week, Tues/Th 5:30-6:30 or W/Th 5:30-6:30. Students will have a monthly assessment after class (on Tue or W until 7), Parents will be required to attend 3x 1 hour mandatory meetings (one in the beggining of the semester, one halfway through, and one before the end). Practice, attendance, and timeliness are essential for this class!
