Students build on skills they learned in Piano I. Continuing learning about music theory. Students will begin playing with two hands and should know their basic keys and hand positions. Students will have to be assessed before entering a Piano II class.

A beginning acting class that gives students a chance to use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create characters and tell stories. Students work on pantomime, expressing emotion, and creating dialogue while becoming more comfortable and confident in front of others.
Students learn how to read as well as play notes and chords. Students build rhythm, timing, coordination, memory and finger strength through a variety of music exercises and through playing classic and contemporary songs.
Instrument rentals are available for a fee and are on a first come, first served basis.

Students explore the world of Breakdance with particular emphasis on Popping, Locking, and Breaking. They will build skills in balancing and controlling their bodies and learn how to strengthen their own rhythm while learning a variety of sequences, dance choreography, and some Hip Hop history.

Private Lessons are available in 24-week sessions from October to May. Lessons are scheduled individually by Institute staff. Private lessons are not covered for financial aid.

Students will move to the beat of Hip Hop music while improving rhythm and timing, strengthening their muscles and muscle memory. All while practicing patience and focus. In Hip Hop all kids are taught about how fun it is to use their bodies to positively express themselves.

Students build skills in fingering, form, and proper bow technique, while learning the fundamentals of music theory including reading music. Students will work individually and collaboratively on exercises and song work building rhythm, timing, concentration, comprehension and coordination.
Assessment will be required. Instrument rentals are available for a fee on a first come, first served basis.

Learning comtemporary theatrical and concert dance. Expressing emotions and concepts through body movements. All levels welcome.

An improvisational acting class that gives students a chance to use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create characters and tell stories. Students work on pantomime, expressing emotion, exploring new topics socially and emotionally and creating dialogue while becoming more comfortable and confident in front of others.

Students will learn a process of communicating information to an audience. The benefits of knowing how to communicate to an audience include sharpening critical thinking and verbal/non-verbal communication skills.
Students will create original writing that expresses their ideas and thoughts in an imaginative way. Creative writing encourages students to step out of reality and into a new realm inspired by their own imagination.

Students build skills in drawing, painting and other mixed media that may include collage and sculpture. Color theory, composition and other fundamentals of visual arts will be explored.
There is an additional $25 Fee for Supplies.

Fun and interactive activities and songs engage students in the movement and music. Students practice vocal technique including proper breathing, support and control to improve the quality and strength of their singing voices. By adding choreography, students learn how to use their bodies in combination with their voices to create a performance.

Little ones have fun with movement and dance. Students will participate in physical exercises that build coordination, balance, and agility. Students will also explore a range of dance styles and will learn basic choreography that will have them dancing everywhere they go.

This class is for students with a basic knowledge and understanding of playing the guitar. Students build upon their skills of reading as well as playing notes and chords. Students build rhythm, timing, coordination, memory and finger strength through a variety of music exercises and through playing classic and contemporary songs.

Procient violin students developing theor own compostion and playing as a ensemble with other students - learning about music theory and builing their skills in rhythm, timing, coordination, memory and finger strength through a variety of music exercises and through playing classic and contemporary songs.
**Must have taken Violin I and II - will also need to be assessed by Teaching Artist**

Using acrylics and watercolor students create their own works of art while learning a variety of styles, techniques and methods of painting.

Students are introduced to various musical instruments and song including learning music notes and scales, music values and ear training while having fun exploring instruments, singing songs and participating in a wide range of fun activities.

This class should be required for every young person! Led by artist and motivational speaker - acting, creative writing and visual arts are used to build personal power, self-esteem and confidence.
(Grades 3 -6 )

The students end the day with student-led creative clubs that gives them an opportunity to work on an artistic project and games of their choice. Game time is available at no cost to Institute participants.

1:15 - 2:00 PM
This is a fusion class of Recording artist, EMP and DJ. Students will create their own musical songs, and using music creation software such a Garage Band or Logic, students learn the fundamentals of arranging their own tracks and beats. They will explore a wide range of instruments and musical styles and will learn how to combine these elements to make original compositions.
Dee Jay will teach all the basics of becoming a DJ. Expect to learn teminology, technology and basic techniques. Learn how your favorite DJs spin those great tunes. Open to all levels.
Especially geared for students in grades 3 – 6 students can participate pre-teen-focused discussion group that encourages them to get to know each other by exploring their thoughts and ideas ranging from “favorite childhood memories” to “dealing with difficult friendships.”
We will explore drawing styles to create characters and cartooning of their own vision and design. Students will also learn basic animation techniques. Starting with basic drawing techniques, children will learn about and experience various mixed media and create their own characters.

Explore a new arena of percussion instruments, usually played as part of a musical marching ensemble. Students will play with various drums (snare, bass, etc.).
We are registering for our Afterschool Institute, a 16-week semester. We are offering exciting hybrid classes that begin online and transition to IN-PERSON classes in the Spring.
